Bristol University Athletics is proud to announce a collaboration with Stack Velocity Sports Performance Training. The Stack Velocity team is in charge of Strength & Conditioning for the Bears Athletic Program. 

Colin Shumate

Director of Strength and Conditioning

Certifications: CSCS, USAW

Coach Colin was a stand out high school athlete and named to the Nevada All-Decade team by Rivals. He played football at San Diego State University and then worked with the strength and conditioning staff through 2011. Coach Colin has been working with STACK Velocity since 2013 as a coach, director, and program coordinator. He has developed professional athletes in several sports including from the NFL, NHL MLB, MLS, AVP Beach Volleyball,  as well as US National Team Olympians. Coach Colin has worked with collegiate athletes and teams from over 30 universities as well as high schools all across Southern California.

Coach Colin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA.) He is also a Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.

"Our goal is to develop the best athletes by improving imbalances, lowering the risk of injuries and optimizing performance. We will achieve this through precise programming and professional coaching delivered to our athletes."


Nick Berger

Performance Coach

Certifications: MS, CSCS

Coach Nick grew up in the South Bay and attended Redondo Union High School. Nick was named to the Athletic Hall of Fame for tennis in 2014 for his achievement in winning two CIF Championships in 2004.  He went on to play Division I Men's Tennis at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and was named Captain his senior year. Nick graduated from Cal Poly with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Kinesiology. He then went on to complete his Master's in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition from California State University, Long Beach. 

Nick officially became part of the Velocity team as a Sports Performance Coach in 2011. Nick has worked with athletes who are competing in the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), Arena football league, Australian Football league (AFL), National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Soccer (MLS), Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), and Canadian Football League (CFL.)  

Nick is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA.)
